They impact things from useful equipment and household electronic goods composition to
processes in infrastructure development, drug development, biochemistry and chemical
physics, physical mathematics and space exploration. A the ground level, all three
domains are useful in agriculture, environment sustainability, paint technology,
statistical evidence of physical processes and chemical reactions, as well as in simple
daily aspects like food preparation. The combined study of these three subjects is
gaining popularity like never before, and leads to many career options.
The three-year Bachelor of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) programme offered
by the Department of Applied Science & Humanities helps to equip students with the
knowledge of physical, mathematical and chemical sciences, through which they can
contribute to the betterment of society. The subjects included in the programme are
Mathematical, Physical, and Newtonian Mechanics, Differential and Integral Calculus,
Thermal Physics and Semiconductor Devices, Biochemical Analysis, Pharmaceutical
Chemistry, Mathematical Software, and Ethnobotany.
Minor courses can also be undertaken in Public Health, Medicinal Botany and Business
Mathematics among others.
This three-year comprehensive curriculum includes many lab-based subjects too such as
Mechanical Properties of Matter, Quantitative Analysis, Biochemical Analysis and
Research, etc. Multidisciplinary project work that combines all three subjects are also
encouraged, as is the presentation of research papers. These combine to make the
students confident to take up roles in myriad companies and industries.
