To enable them to explore and acquire strong theoretical knowledge of basic principles for understanding relevant areas with human concern.

The course will help students to identify, analyse areas of research.

The students will learn to analyse, recognize and appreciate the ways in which writers use language to achieve a range of effects and be inspired to present an informed and personal response to materials they have studied.

Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the practice.

Understand the impact of the professional solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the work practice.

Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Communication(PO-8)

Communicate effectively with their community and with society at large. Be able to comprehend and write effective reports documentation. Make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

Project management and finance(PO-9)

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of logical and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team. Manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.

Program Educational Objectives

This program exposes the students to literature across the world as a reflection of the society it is born in. It aims to take the students much beyond their little experience of life to wider thoughts, varied perception and experiences to explore wider universal issues for better understanding of themselves and the world around them. It will enable the students to pursue careers in public and private sectors.

PEO-1

To enrich the knowledge in the study of English to gain an understanding of the literature across the world as a reflection of the society it is born in.

PEO-2

To provide an introductory exposure to methods and methodologies in literary, cultural and historical domains to explore wider universal issues for better understanding of themselves and the world around them and to apply the knowledge for further research.

PEO-3

The ability to understand the complex dynamics of literary genres with critical, aesthetic, and ethical sensitivity.

After undergoing this programme, a student will be able to exhibit the following:

(PSO-1)

Proficiency in understanding Literary Genres: To provide an introductory exposure to methods and methodologies in literary genres. An understanding of literal and implicit meaning, relevant contexts and of the deeper themes or attitudes that may be expressed.

(PSO-2)

Proficiency in Practical Approach: To provide an introductory exposure to methods and methodologies in literary, cultural and historical domains to explore and understand wider universal issues.
