The selection criteria include scoring 50% marks in your 10+2 studies (45% in case of SC/ST). There are merit list-based admissions in most cases, but entrance test marks of the candidates may also be considered at the state and national levels.
It's a more detailed and specialized program as compared to the regular B.Com program, as it deals with higher levels of accountancy, finance, and analysis studies. It will help you move on towards CA, CS, CFA, or MBA much more easily if you have chosen the B.Com Hons course initially.
In the course of three years, the following subjects will be taught, including accountancy, business finance, taxation, economics, and other commerce subjects, starting with the basics in the first year, moving up to advanced and specialized subjects in the third year.
Choices vary from being a tax consultant, investment banker, stockbroker, or even a business analyst on the private front, or working in the banking and civil sector through SSC, RRB NTPC, or state exams on the government front. Many graduates choose to take up certification courses such as becoming a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, or CFA, or even join an M.Com/MBA program.
One should verify the placement record with regard to finance or consulting firms, along with the practical or research experience of the faculty members. It is also important to compare the fee structure for all three years and see if the college offers professional certification courses such as CA or CFA along with the course itself.
