ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Our world is greatly influenced by psychology, a field of study that examines how people think, feel, and act. This applied science is invaluable in helping organisations—from businesses and government to healthcare and education—better understand human behaviour.

It is a multifaceted field, exploring the interaction between the mind and behaviour, as well as the biological, psychological, developmental, and sociocultural factors that shape it.

The three-year Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours) programme offered by the Department of Applied Science & Humanities focuses on understanding human development from infancy to adulthood and the impact of psychological processes on decision-making and behaviour. The programme covers various core concepts such as biopsychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, counseling psychology, as well as a number of electives that students can choose from. The curriculum provides students with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills needed to understand and explore the human mind. It also provides an opportunity to study the impact of culture, environment and other social influences on human behaviour.

The undergraduate programme in Psychology involves classroom lectures, workshops, seminars, internships, guest lectures and field work which give the students the opportunity to gain exposure to practical applications of the concepts of psychology. It also provides a thorough understanding of the theories and research methods in psychology. The coursework helps the students to develop critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills, which they can apply successfully in their jobs in mental healthcare and other industries. After completion of the course, students can also pursue higher studies in psychology to develop more knowledge, expertise and authority in their chosen specializations.
