The academic excursion undertaken by the students of BA Hons English, accompanied by faculty member Dr. Rubina Verma, took place from February 1st to February 5th, 2024, centred around attending the renowned Jaipur Literature Festival and exploring the rich cultural heritage of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Jaipur Literature Festival, one of the largest literary gatherings in the world, served as an ideal platform for students to engage with prominent authors, intellectuals, and literary enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. By attending panel discussions, book readings, and interactive sessions, students were able to broaden their literary horizons and gain insights into contemporary literary trends and themes.
Furthermore, the visit to Jaipur offered students a unique opportunity to delve into the cultural tapestry of Rajasthan. Exploring the historical monuments such as Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and City Palace provided a glimpse into Jaipur's rich architectural heritage and storied past. Additionally, students had the chance to immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture by witnessing traditional folk performances, sampling Rajasthani cuisine, and interacting with local artisans.
Under the guidance of Dr. Rubina Verma, the faculty lead for the excursion, students were encouraged to critically analyze the intersections between literature, history, and culture, thereby fostering a multidisciplinary approach to learning. Through reflective discussions and academic debriefings, students were able to synthesize their experiences and draw connections between theoretical concepts studied in the classroom and real-world manifestations.
Overall, the trip to Jaipur proved to be an enriching and memorable experience for all participants, facilitating intellectual growth, cultural exchange, and personal development.
