Ms. Pavitra Khandelwal is the Head of the Department of Fashion Design at Invertis University, with an academic background in Fabric and Apparel Science. She holds an M.Sc. in Fabric and Apparel Science and is UGC-NET qualified in Home Science. Her professional expertise includes Fabric Science, Dyeing and Printing, Traditional Indian Textiles, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Draping, Surface Ornamentation, and Image Styling.
Her teaching approach is student-centric, practical, and application-oriented, combining theoretical concepts with hands-on learning. She focuses on developing creativity, critical thinking, technical competence, problem-solving abilities, and industry readiness among students. Her academic interests also extend to sustainable textile practices, innovative dyeing techniques, textile evaluation, and sustainable approaches to fashion and textile development.
Her research work includes the study “Rust Dyeing on Rayon Fabric and its Evaluation,” co-authored with Madhuri Nigam and published in the Journal of the Textile Association in 2024. The research examined rust dyeing as a sustainable textile coloration technique and evaluated its performance characteristics.
As Head of the Department of Fashion Design, Ms. Khandelwal contributes to academic leadership through curriculum development, course design, CLO formulation, assessment frameworks, and academic documentation. She also mentors students, supervises academic work, and coordinates workshops, guest lectures, industry visits, fashion shows, and other experiential learning initiatives. Her academic leadership supports the integration of practical and industry-oriented perspectives into fashion education.
