National Seminar on the occasion of World Water Day organized by Faculty of Engineering, Invertis University

Experts shared experiences on climate change-generated water crisis solutions

Faculty of Engineering Invertis University, Bareilly organized a national seminar on the topic “Impact of Climate Change on Surface and Ground Water Resources of India” on the occasion of World Water Day today, March 22, 2023. Apart from students, researchers, teachers, and representatives of various institutions participated in the seminar.

The seminar was inaugurated by Honorable Vice Chancellor and Chief Guest, Invertis University Prof. YDS Arya, Dean, Engineering Prof. RK Shukla, Director CSED Prof. JNS Srivastava, Scientist F, Surface Water Hydrology Division, NIH, Roorkee Dr. Manohar Arora, Dept. of SWCA, Pantnagar University Assistant Prof. Dr. Deepak Kumar, HOD, Department of Education, Head of Department, Education Department, Dr. Awadhesh Sharma, Head of Department, CSE, Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Head of Department, Mechanical Department, Mr. Krishan Kant, Head of Department, Electrical Department, Mr. Arun Gangwar, Head of Department, Civil Department, Mr. Arvind Kumar

In his speech, Prof. Arya threw light on the Indian water crisis and, describing water as the basic need of human life, suggested important measures for its promotion. Prof. R.K. Shukla presented the data related to water resources and expressed his views on the wise use of water resources with many examples. Prof. R.K. Shukla also congratulated the participants/delegates on behalf of Hon'ble Chancellor of Invertis University Dr. Umesh Gautam and Executive Director Mr. Partha Gautam. Prof. JNS Srivastava in his speech motivated and informed the students, about small measures to save water from flowing unnecessarily. On this occasion, information about water conservation measures taken by their respective departments was also given by all the department heads. In the presentation sessions, Dr. Manohar Arora, Scientist, Surface Water Hydrology Division, NIH, Roorkee, first presented his lecture on the impact of climate change on water resources in his presentations and gave information about several international and national efforts and plans, which Later, in the second session, Dr. Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of SWCA, Pantnagar University, in which he gave detailed information about water availability in India, various challenges and techniques of water purification. Briefly discussed the challenges and technical solutions.

On behalf of Invertis University, Mr. Arvind Kumar, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, thanked the patrons, program coordinators, speakers, and participants. The coordination and operation of the program were done by Dr. Basant Ballabh Dumka while co-coordination was done by Dr. Ashish Singh and Organizing Secretary Mr. Pankaj Tripathi. The Head of the Department Mr. Arvind Kumar called the webinar successful and all the members of the Faculty of Engineering were present in the program.
