Workshop on “Button Masala: A Sustainable Approach to Creative Design”

The Department of Fashion Design, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Invertis University, Bareilly, successfully organized a workshop on “Button Masala: A Sustainable Approach to Creative Design” on 5th February 2026 under the guidance and encouragement of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Umesh Gautam and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Mr. Parth Gautam.
The workshop was conducted by renowned designer Mr. Anuj Sharma, Founder of Button Masala, who introduced students to an innovative and sustainable fashion design system based on modular construction with no cutting and no sewing. He explained how garments and products can be created using simple joinery techniques with buttons and rubber bands, eliminating the need for machines or stitching. The method enables easy assembly, dismantling, reuse, and restructuring, making the process sustainable, adaptable, and cost-effective.
During the interactive session, Mr. Sharma emphasized that design extends beyond garment creation and serves as a tool for awareness, self-growth, and innovation. The hands-on workshop encouraged students to rethink conventional design approaches and adopt environmentally responsible practices.
The workshop proved to be highly inspiring and enriching, fostering creativity and promoting sustainable thinking among students.
