Strategic HR Planning for Sustainable Development: Building a Future Ready Workforce

The Department of MBA organised a guest lecture on “Strategic HR Planning for Sustainable Development: Building a Future Ready Workforce” at Seminar Hall 2, Invertis University. The session brought together students and faculty members to explore how human resource management can support organisational growth, sustainability and changing workforce requirements.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shyamli Singh, Associate Professor at South Asian University, New Delhi, who discussed strategic HR planning in the context of sustainable development and climate change. The session was conducted under the Invertis University × Google Agentic AI University initiative.
Dr. Singh explained how workforce planning needs to align with an organisation’s long-term goals while accounting for emerging environmental and economic challenges. She highlighted key areas of human resource management, including talent acquisition, learning and development, employee engagement and retention, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion.
The discussion also explored how climate change is influencing jobs, workplace practices and the skills required in a changing economy. Students were introduced to the importance of developing green skills and preparing employees for a sustainability driven future. The session highlighted the role of HR professionals in building responsible workplaces, supporting continuous learning and helping organisations adapt to change.
An interactive question and answer session followed the lecture, allowing students to seek guidance on HR careers, sustainability and skill development. The exchange connected the discussion with students’ academic learning and future professional aspirations.
The programme was attended by Prof. Manish Gupta, Dean, Management, and Dr. Ankita Tandon, HOD, MBA. Faculty coordinators Dr. Arvind Kumar Shukla and Ms. Sukanya Chatterjee supported the organisation of the session.
The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks and the presentation of a token of appreciation to the guest speaker. The session gave students a broader understanding of strategic HR planning and the need to integrate workforce development with environmental and social responsibility.
