ONLINE AlUMNI GUEST LECTURE ON ‘SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT’ ORGANISED BY DEPARTMENT OF B.COM ON 7TH APRIL 2023
Department of B.Com (Faculty of Management), Invertis University, Bareilly organized an online alumni guest lecture on ‘Skill Development and Youth Empowerment’ on 7th April, 2023 for the students of B.Com (H) 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. Ms. Zeenat (Project Officer at National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad) was invited as guest speaker. She also has been the alumni of pioneer batch of B.Com (H) (Batch 2013-16).
Ms. Zeenat started the session with the video showing transformation in life of a girl named as Kavita due to skill development course pursued by her and discussed importance of alignment of correct skills set with supply of youth power in India. She told that as per 2014 data, India has the youngest population in the world (18-35 years). She also told students about various initiatives taken under PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna) in order to provide various work opportunities to the youth specially in the rural areas.
During the session, she also emphasised on the process of ‘Learn, Unlearn and Relearn’ the skills to keep oneself updated in today’s competitive environment. She also discussed different schemes running under DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushal Yojna) viz. ‘Roshni’ (under Sagar Mala project), ‘Udaan’ (for MNREGA Children), SANKALP etc. She also discussed the role of different stake holders in such schemes like PIAs (Project Implementation Agencies), Central government and State Government. She also suggested Head of Department to plan a visit to HCL foundation, Hardoi (HCL Tech CSR arm) which focuses on various flagship schemes in the areas of Education, Health and Sanitation, Skill Development and Livelihood etc.
The session was very interactive and productive.
