JMC Students Explore Literature and Acting at Kitab Utsav

Events

Students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication participated in Kitab Utsav at Windermere, exploring diverse literary genres and gaining practical insights into acting and performance. Students from the first, second and third years attended the event under the guidance of Chancellor Dr. Umesh Gautam and Pro-Chancellor Mr. Parth Gautam.

A key highlight of the visit was an interactive session with renowned actor Raghuvir Yadav, who conducted creative acting exercises for the students. Through activities involving rhythm, coordination and question-and-answer exercises, students explored aspects of performance, concentration, expression and communication. The exercises also encouraged them to observe human behaviour and understand the nuances of presenting emotions and ideas through acting.

The students also explored a wide collection of books covering novels, autobiographies, short stories, history, literary criticism, cinema, tribal literature, drama, biographies, poetry and shayari. The exhibition introduced them to different literary traditions, perspectives and forms of creative expression.

The visit highlighted the relationship between literature, cinema and performing arts. Students gained an understanding of how literary works reflect society, culture and human emotions, while acting and cinema bring stories to life through visual expression, dialogue and performance.

The experience provided an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom while encouraging reading habits, creative thinking and effective communication. It also offered journalism students a broader perspective on storytelling and the role of literature and performance in media.
