Invertis University Management Faculty Discuss Economic Progress Beyond GDP

The Department of Management at Invertis University organised a Faculty Panel Discussion on “Beyond GDP: Rethinking Economic Progress” on August 8, 2026, at the AB-3 Conference Room. The session brought faculty members together to examine how economic progress can be understood beyond conventional measures of national income.
Prof. (Dr.) Manish Gupta, Dean – Management, chaired the session, while Ms. Neha Dev, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, moderated the discussion.
The panel featured Dr. Ankita Tandon, Head, Department of MBA; Dr. Rajeev Singh Bhandari, Head, Department of BBA; and Dr. Dheeraj Gandhi, Associate Professor. The panelists discussed economic growth in relation to employment, inequality, quality of life, sustainability and inclusive development.
The discussion examined whether GDP alone could provide a complete picture of a nation's progress. The exchange highlighted the importance of considering factors such as well-being, opportunities, inclusion and sustainable development alongside economic output when assessing development.
The interactive format encouraged faculty members to exchange perspectives and consider the wider social and economic dimensions of progress. The discussion provided an academic platform for examining how economic development can be evaluated through a broader understanding of people's quality of life and access to opportunities.
The session was coordinated by Dr. Niru Kushwaha. It concluded with observations from the Session Chair and a vote of thanks to the panelists and faculty members for their participation and contribution to the discussion.
