The Department of Biotechnology & Forensic Science at Invertis University organised an online Alumni Interaction Session on August 17, 2026, on the theme “Biotech Beyond Graduation: Careers, Research, Higher Studies & Entrepreneurship.” The session featured alumnus Mr. Sai Pavan Gangavarapu, Histopathologist associated with the University of Bedfordshire, Luton, United Kingdom.
Students of B.Sc. Biotechnology V Semester and B.Tech. Biotechnology III, V and VII Semesters, along with faculty members, participated in the interaction. The session focused on career planning, postgraduate education, research opportunities, employability and entrepreneurship in biotechnology.
Mr. Gangavarapu explained the range of career opportunities available across research and development, quality assurance, bioprocessing, clinical roles, bioinformatics, regulatory affairs and business development. He also introduced the TIME–COST–SKILLS–RETURN framework to help students assess career and higher-study options more systematically.
The discussion covered studying in India or abroad, salary evaluation, internships, professional networking, CV preparation and interview readiness. Students interested in research and higher education were also guided on preparing for examinations such as GATE and CSIR-UGC NET, along with developing a strong academic profile.
The interaction highlighted the importance of combining technical knowledge with data skills, laboratory exposure, communication and professional networking. Students were encouraged to begin career preparation early and choose pathways aligned with their interests and strengths.
The programme concluded with gratitude to the guest speaker and Dr. Dinesh Prajapati, Head of the Department, for his encouragement and support. The session provided students with practical perspectives on building careers in biotechnology after graduation.
