Industrial Visit of Sharda Hydro Power plant Lohiahead, Khatima Dist. Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand), India (26-10-2021)
Department of EE/ECE has organized an industrial visit to Sharda Power House (Hydro) Lohiahead, Khatima, Dist. US Nagar (Uttarakhand) on 26/10/2021 for B.Tech. and Diploma EE/ECE students.
The main aim of this industrial visit was to provide exposure to students about the practical working environment. They also provide students a good opportunity to gain full awareness about industrial practices.
Sharda Power Plant is a 13.8 MW of Non-Conventional (Renewable) water-based plant. Where three units are present two units are generally in running condition and one is resting mode. This is used according to the requirement of electricity. The water for the project would be from the Sharda river which is also called the Kaali river and originates at an elevation of 3600m (11800ft) in the Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand India. It flows along Nepal’s western border with India. There are three main functions water gains potential energy just before it spills over the top of a dam or flows a hill. The potential energy is converted into kinetic energy through the Turbine as water flows downhill for moving the turbine and turbine is connected to generator and generator convert the mechanical energy into electrical energy, generating electrical energy gives to the switchyard from the switchyard 132/33 to the power plants customers. The prime motive was to make students acquit with Industrial application along with regular classroom teaching. Students have learned about turbines, generators, governors, and power evacuations.
Students were accompanied by Mr. Mon Prakash Upadhyay (HOD EE/ECE), Mr. Pankaj Tripathi (Electrical Engineering Department). Moreover, the efforts towards making student Industry ready was appreciated by Dean Engineering VC Prof. YDS Arya Sir and Prof. R.K Shukla Sir.
