Guest Lecture on “Environmental Journalism: Challenges and Opportunities”

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Invertis University, Bareilly, organized an online guest lecture on “Environmental Journalism: Challenges and Opportunities” on 8th October 2025. The session was held under the guidance of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Umesh Gautam and Executive Director Mr.Parth Gautam, with the objective of making students aware of the importance and scope of environmental reporting. The keynote speaker, Mr. Vivek Mishra, Senior Environmental Journalist from Down To Earth (Hindi), New Delhi, emphasized that environmental journalism is not just a topic but a responsibility to balance society and nature. He highlighted that today’s environmental news extends beyond pollution and climate change, connecting deeply with public policy, community life, and sustainable development. Mr. Mishra discussed challenges such as the lack of reliable data, complex scientific information, and external pressures, while also recognizing the opportunities offered by digital and social media to amplify environmental concerns. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students expressed enthusiasm and curiosity about the field. The event proved to be informative and inspiring, encouraging students to adopt a responsible and solution-oriented approach to environmental reporting for a sustainable future.
