Events

The Department of Applied Science & Humanities, Invertis University, Bareilly, successfully organized an expert lecture titled “Seeing the Unseen: The Mysteries of Synthetic Aperture Radar from Space” on 2nd February 2026 under the guidance and encouragement of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Umesh Gautam and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Mr. Parth Gautam. The session was delivered by Dr. Hari Shankar, Scientist ‘SF’ at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO, Dehradun.

During the lecture, Dr. Shankar shared valuable insights into Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology, explaining its ability to observe the Earth’s surface through clouds, in darkness, and under all-weather conditions. He highlighted key applications in monitoring land deformation, landslides, disaster management, glacier movement with centimeter-level precision, and agricultural patterns from space.

The session concluded with an engaging interactive Q&A, where researchers, faculty members, and students discussed the future of radar technology in India. The lecture provided a comprehensive understanding of how space-borne SAR is transforming environmental monitoring and disaster management. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Avdhesh Kumar, Assistant Professor (Physics) and Convener of the event.
