Department of Electrical Engineering had organized a two-day Energy Literacy Training Programme on the
date 25-26/04/2025. B.Tech. and diploma students (240 students) with faculty members of the Faculty of
Engineering & Technology joined the training programme. Students understand the awareness and
understanding of energy conservation, renewable energy sources, and sustainable energy practices among
participants. The programme aimed to empower individuals with knowledge and skills to make informed
energy-related decisions in their personal and professional lives. A renowned solar scientist and a
professor at IIT Bombay, Prof. Chatan Singh Solanki has delivered the lecture. He has been referred to
as “Solar Man of India” by Times of India, The Hindu and India Today. Some people also call him “Solar
Gandhi”. Known for his remarkable work in the field of solar energy, he is an educator, innovator,
researcher, author and loves to talk about the philosophy of life.
