International Symposium organized at Invertis University on Emerging Smart Materials for Advancement of Science & Technology
The two-day international Symposium in Physics on Emerging Smart Materials for Advancement of Science & Technology (ESMAST-2021) which focused on frontiers of research and development world over in the field of Material Science, especially Smart Materials, was Organized by Faculty of Science, Applied Sciences Department, Invertis University Bareilly on 11th and 12th June 2021 in online mode on MS Team platform.
The Inaugural session began with the welcome of Guests and participants followed by introduction to the theme and purpose of the Symposium by the convener Dr Surya Pratap Goutam. The Chief Guest Prof R. G. Sonkawade, who is an Internationally renowed Academician and Scientist, presently working as Head Department of Physics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, inspired the participants and discussed the various fields of material science where research work is presently going on and discussed the areas where there is huge potential for research and applications for fresh people. The inaugural session was concluded by a vote of thanks.
There were then technical sessions in which stalwarts of the field gave illuminating invited talks. Prof. Devraj Singh, Director, Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, discussed on Ultrasonics’ uses as characterization tool. Dr Nandini Sharma from Guru Nanak Dev College, Punjab Technical University, Ludhiana, discussed areas of Nanotechnology that have great research potential and particularly on Photo Catalysis as a cheap and useful technology. Dr Anupam Pramanick from SRS Vidhyamahapitha, University of Burdwan, West Bengal discussed chemical techniques used and the technology of optical fibres today.
The second day of International Symposium in Physics focused on frontiers of research and development world over in the field of Material Science and especially Smart Materials. In her invited talk Dr Shalini Trivedi from Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic, Europe, discussed Quantum Dots: A Probe to BioMedical Sciences and very beautifully investigated the various possibilities which quantum dots hold in various aspects of our life and serve in solving deep rooted problems that face human society. Dr Utkarsh Kumar from National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan, discussed Nanotechnology and its Future Scope in interesting detail and showed that the great applications in various areas that have begun to appear slowly before us and a lot of practical examples were shared where advances have been made. Dr Ratindra Gautam from Ram Manohar Lohiya University, Ayodhya, presented his talk on very currently relevant area of Post Covid Biomedical Waste: Challenges & Innovations and in a great detail and with interesting examples discussed the critical issue of segregating, treating, recycling and handling this waste and the need for awareness.
In the end, the Dean FoS Dr P. P. Singh congratulated the participants and the organizing team for such a wonderful symposium. He also appreciated the presenters for their discussion of various frontiers of current technology that can be taken up by students and young researchers and making the symposium a great success. The symposium ended with vote of thanks the by Convener and shared a short story with the moral – Don’t just advice; Help, if you can.
