Crime Scene Investigation Competition Highlights Forensic Skills

Events

The Department of Biotechnology organised a Crime Scene Investigation Competition on 31 October 2026, as part of Day 2 of the International Conference on AI-Enabled Biotechnology. The competition provided students with a practical platform to demonstrate their analytical abilities, scientific understanding and investigative skills through simulated crime scene scenarios based on different incidents.

Participants examined the simulated crime scenes, applied their knowledge of forensic principles and demonstrated their ability to observe, analyse and interpret evidence. The activity encouraged scientific reasoning and highlighted the importance of accuracy and attention to detail in crime scene investigation.

The event was attended by Prof. P. P. Singh, Dean of Sciences, and Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, along with members of the organising committee. Dr. Kaushal Sharma from the Forensic Science Laboratory served as a jury member, evaluating the participants' work and sharing expert insights.

The competition enabled students to understand how scientific evidence contributes to forensic investigations and how theoretical concepts can be applied in practical situations. It also offered valuable exposure to investigative techniques while strengthening observational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

The activity formed part of the conference's broader focus on the applications of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in biotechnology and forensic science. It encouraged students to explore the connection between scientific knowledge and real-world investigative practices.
