1st Novice Moot Court Competition 2026 Develops Advocacy Skills

Events

The Department of Law organised the 1st Novice Moot Court Competition, 2026, on 1 October at M-Block, providing first-year law students with an opportunity to develop their legal research, drafting, advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.

The competition was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Reena Jaiswal, Dean, Law, and Dr. V. N. Sharma, Head of the Department of Law. It aimed to introduce novice mooters to the practical aspects of legal proceedings and oral argumentation.

A key feature of the competition was its emphasis on peer learning. Students from the fourth and fifth years served as adjudicators, evaluating participants’ oral advocacy and legal arguments. Students from the second and third years mentored first-year participants in moot court procedures, memorial preparation, legal research and oral submissions. This structure encouraged collaboration, mentorship and knowledge-sharing across academic years.
