World Radio Day Guest Lecture

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Invertis University, Bareilly, organized a guest lecture on the occasion of World Radio Day on 13th February 2026 under the guidance and encouragement of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Umesh Gautam and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Mr. Parth Gautam. The objective of the session was to make students aware of the history, development, and continuing relevance of radio in the digital age.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Vinay Verma, former Programming Head of Akashvani and Doordarshan Bareilly, shared his experiences and explained the role of radio as a powerful medium of mass communication. He emphasized that radio plays an important role in spreading awareness on social, educational, and health-related issues. Referring to the programme Mann Ki Baat, he highlighted how radio continues to connect with citizens across the country and reaches areas where modern digital platforms often cannot.
The lecture also covered modern formats such as FM broadcasting, community radio, podcasts, and online radio platforms, showing how radio has adapted to changing technology. Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dean, discussed the historical importance of radio as a strong and reliable communication medium.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Yashika Gupta, Assistant Professor, in the presence of faculty members and students. The event proved to be informative and engaging, helping students understand the importance of radio in both traditional and digital media.
