Expert Session on “Disaster Risk Financing in India: Concepts and Framework” – Department of B.Com.

The Department of B.Com, Faculty of Management, Invertis University, Bareilly, successfully organized an Expert Session on “Disaster Risk Financing in India: Concepts and Framework” on 10th March 2026 at Seminar Hall-1 under the guidance and encouragement of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Umesh Gautam and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Mr. Parth Gautam. The session was conducted for students of B.Com and B.Com (Hons.) to enhance their understanding of disaster management, risk financing, and policy frameworks in India.
The session was delivered by Er. Awdhesh Kumar, Head – Department of Civil Engineering, Invertis University, who explained the importance of disaster preparedness, mitigation planning, and financial management in reducing the impact of natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, and cyclones. He highlighted the role of disaster drills, early warning systems, infrastructure planning, and community awareness in building resilience against disasters.
The speaker also discussed the financial framework of disaster management in India, including the role of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF), and State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) in supporting preparedness, mitigation, and recovery activities. He emphasized that modern disaster management focuses not only on relief but also on long-term risk reduction and sustainable development.
The programme was organized under the support of Prof. Manish Gupta, Dean – Faculty of Management, and Dr. Dheeraj Gandhi, Head – Department of B.Com, along with faculty members of the department.
The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial, helping students understand the importance of disaster awareness, financial preparedness, and strategic planning in managing natural disasters effectively.
