B.Com. Students Get First Hand Exposure to Printing and Packaging Operations at ITC Haridwar

The Department of B.Com., Faculty of Management, in association with the Corporate Resource Centre (CRC), organised an industrial visit to ITC Limited, SIDCUL, Haridwar, for students of B.Com. and B.Com. (H). The visit was aimed at connecting classroom concepts with practical understanding of industrial operations and the corporate work environment.
During the visit, students learned about ITC’s Packaging & Printing Business and its role in producing packaging solutions for different consumer products. An interactive session by Mr. Roshan Rana, HR Manager, introduced students to the functioning of the plant and the company’s growth. He also addressed students’ questions during the interaction.
The plant tour gave students a closer look at various stages of the printing and packaging process. They observed how sheets are processed through specialised machinery, beginning with base-colour printing followed by product labelling and design. Students also saw roller-based machinery used for large-scale packaging and learned about second-layer packaging produced through micro-perforation.
Another aspect of the visit was ITC’s focus on eco-friendly and sustainable packaging, helping students understand the growing role of environmental considerations in modern industrial practices.
Following the industrial visit, the students visited Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar, adding a cultural element to the educational tour.
The visit provided students with practical exposure to printing, packaging, machinery and sustainable business practices. It also helped them understand how concepts discussed in the classroom translate into actual industrial processes.
The visit was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Umesh Gautam, Chancellor; Mr. Parth Gautam, Pro-Chancellor; Prof. Y.D.S. Arya, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Manish Gupta, Dean, Management; Dr. Nitin Sareen, HOD, B.Com.; Dr. Dheeraj Gandhi; Mr. Chander Shekhar, Senior Manager, CRC; and Mr. Abhishek Gangwar, Senior Placement Executive, CRC.
The university also acknowledged Mr. Vineet Nehra, Director of Recruitment, Corporate Relations, for arranging the industrial visit, and the employees and staff of ITC Limited for their cooperation and hospitality.
