WEBINAR ON “INVESTOR AWARENESS AND THE ROLE OF REGULATORS” JOINTLY ORGANISED BY MBA & B.COM DEPARTMENT IN COLLABORATION WITH BSE, SEBI AND CDSL ON 23RD NOVEMBER 2020

With a view to aware investors from fraudulent activities in securities market, MBA Department and B.COM Department jointly organized a webinar in collaboration with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Central Depository Service Limited (CDSL) to celebrate WORLD INVESTOR WEEK 2020 on 23rdNovember, 2020 for the students of MBA and B.Com (H) in Financial Market. The sessions were delivered by Mr. Naveen Saxena (Assistant General Manager, SEBI), Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi (BSE, IPF) and Mr. Amit Kumar Jain (Manager, CDSL).

Mr. Naveen explains why and when SEBI was set up and how SEBI works as an umbrella for investors? He also explains the role of other regulators like RBI and IRDA. According to him an investor should not invest in any stock without having any knowledge of share market, do not be acting like a group of sheep.

Mr. Sokhi from BSE told, how the stock market affects the rate of inflation. He also explains how to save and how to invest, how trading account is different from DEMAT account. Further he also elaborates segments in share market like equity, derivatives, mutual funds etc.

Afterwards, Mr. Amit Kumar Jain from CDSL takes charge of the session. Initially he told about CDSL and also explains how a depository is different from bank, what are the jobs of depositories and banks. Further he also explains some important terms of Capital Market and benefits of DEMAT Account and Depository System.

All the sessions were very interactive and productive.
