GUEST LECTURE ON ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ORGANISED BY B.COM DEPARTMENT ON 20TH NOVEMBER 2020

With a view to provide financial exposure to the students, Department of B.COM, organized a Guest Lecture on “Analysis of Financial Statements” on 20th November, 2020 for all the students of B.Com (H) and B.Com. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Pankaj Goyal (CFA, CFP, CWM) from New Delhi.

Mr. Pankaj explains Financial Statements are written records that convey the business activities and the financial performance of a company. Financial statements are often audited by government agencies, accountants, firms, etc. to ensure accuracy and for tax, financing, or investing purposes also. According to him financial statements include Balance sheet, Income statement and Cash flow statement.

As per Mr. Goyal analyzing all the statements for decision making purpose is known as analysis of financial statements. External stakeholders use it to understand the overall health of an organization as well as to evaluate financial performance and business value. Internal constituents use it as a monitoring tool for managing the finances.

He further added that the financial statements of a company record important financial data on every aspect of business activities as such they can be evaluated on the basis of past, current, and projected performance.

During the lecture he also solves queries of students’ related to the practical implications of financial statements analysis. He said that in current scenario we have to do fair analysis of the P & L A/C and Balance sheet so that wise management decisions could be taken. The session was very interactive and productive.
