Bachelor of Science (PCM)

Intake: 50

  • Programme CodeBSC-006
  • Duration 3 Years
  • Programme Graduate Programme
  • Department Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary confluence of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics finds numerous useful applications in today’s world. They intersect as subjects in areas of research, scientific innovation, and academics.

They impact things from useful equipment and household electronic goods composition to processes in infrastructure development, drug development, biochemistry and chemical physics, physical mathematics and space exploration. A the ground level, all three domains are useful in agriculture, environment sustainability, paint technology, statistical evidence of physical processes and chemical reactions, as well as in simple daily aspects like food preparation. The combined study of these three subjects is gaining popularity like never before, and leads to many career options.

The three-year Bachelor of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) programme offered by the Department of Applied Science & Humanities helps to equip students with the knowledge of physical, mathematical and chemical sciences, through which they can contribute to the betterment of society. The subjects included in the programme are Mathematical, Physical, and Newtonian Mechanics, Differential and Integral Calculus, Thermal Physics and Semiconductor Devices, Biochemical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Mathematical Software, and Ethnobotany.

Minor courses can also be undertaken in Public Health, Medicinal Botany and Business Mathematics among others.

This three-year comprehensive curriculum includes many lab-based subjects too such as Mechanical Properties of Matter, Quantitative Analysis, Biochemical Analysis and Research, etc. Multidisciplinary project work that combines all three subjects are also encouraged, as is the presentation of research papers. These combine to make the students confident to take up roles in myriad companies and industries.

Program Educational Objectives

This program acts as a foundation degree and helps to develop critical, analytical and problem solving skills at first level. The foundation degree makes the graduates employable in scientific organizations and also to assume administrative positions in various types of organizations. Further acquisition of higher level degrees will help the graduates to pursue a career in academics or scientific organizations as a researcher.

The Program Educational Objectives are to prepare the students to:

PEO-1

Work alongside engineering, medical, ICT professionals and scientists to assist them in scientific problem solving.

PEO-2

Act as administrators in public, private and government organizations or business administrators with further training and education.

PEO-3

Pursue masters and doctoral research degrees to work in colleges, universities as professors or as scientists in research establishments.
