Event Description

ONLINE GUEST LECTURE ON REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUSTS (REITs) & INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT TRUSTS (InvITS) ORGANISED BY B.COM DEPARTMENT ON 12TH APRIL 2021

B.Com Department organized an Online Guest Lecture on Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) & Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) on 12th April, 2021 for the students of B.Com (H) in Financial Markets, B.Com (H) and B.Com (2nd and 3rd Year). The lecture was delivered by Mr. Amit Kumar Jain (Manager-North India, CDSL).

Mr. Amit Jain began his remarks by emphasizing that Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) are new vehicles that allow developers to generate revenue and property infrastructure, while empowering investors or unit owners to invest money in these assets without ownership.

After that he explained that such monetization benefits developers by allowing them to release funds to fund new infrastructure projects, and to provide funds to investors or unit managers as the trust units are listed on the exchanges. Apart from this, REITs and InvITs enjoy good tax administration, including tax exemptions from dividends and tax deductions.

Later, he said that while investing in REITs and InvITs, investors should assess and evaluate the core portfolio quality and cash flow. They should also consider the nature of the nomination, the investment manager experience and the issuer's risk management policies.

We extend our deep gratitude to Mr. Amit Kumar Jain (Manager-North India, CDSL) who really made the students understand the concept and relevance of REITs and InvITS. The lecture was proved to be fruitful under the guidance of Prof. YDS Arya (Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Manish Gupta (Dean Management), Dr. Dheeraj Gandhi (HOD, B.Com Department), Mr. Naveen Agarwal (Coordinator), Mr. Nitin Sareen, Dr. Mohnish Kumar and Ms. Nasreen Javed.
