The lecture was delivered by Mr. Amit Kumar Jain (Manager, CDSL Northern Regional office).

Mr. Jain started the session with the discussion on dematerialisation with the students. He further explained the structure of the Indian Securities Market and how different intermediaries interact with each other in the market. He clearly distinguished between the activities of the Primary & Secondary Market.

Later, he told about the pre-requisite for buying/selling shares in Securities Market and about the various methods of applying for the Public issue. He also added that a shareholder has certain rights which the shareholder should be aware and also explained that due diligence is very crucial before investing in any company. SEBI has introduced Investor Protection measures like e-KYC, power of attorney, pledge of securities, BSBDA accounts, etc.

Mr. Jain concluded with the dos and don’ts of buying and selling shares in the securities market. The session was very interactive and productive.

We extend our deep gratitude to Mr. Amit Kumar Jain (Manager, CDSL Northern Regional Office) who really made the students understand the real benefit of dematerialisation in today’s financial world.
