Event Description

ONLINE GUEST LECTURE ON CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES FOR THE RETAIL INDUSTRY IN THE PRESENT SCENARIO, JOINTLY ORGANISED BY CRC AND DEPARTMENT OF BBA & B.COM ON 20/06/2020

Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) and Department of BBA & B.COM jointly organized an online Guest Lecture on Challenges and Strategies for the Retail Industry in the Present Scenario on 20th June 2020 for the students of BBA (1st year and 2nd year). The lecture was delivered by Mr. Uzain Zahoor (Manager - Recruitment, Decathlon).

Mr. Uzain Zahoor defined ‘Retail’ as a ‘medium where small quantities are sold to the end-users’. According to him, these days the biggest challenge of ‘Retail Industry’ is to bring people to the retail doorstep. Further, he added people love to shop in groups, so there is a challenge of maintaining social distancing. There is also a fear of safety and stock keeping.

Further, he also explains, the other challenge of the retail industry is increasing cost (cost of rents, operational cost and additional costs) and motivated the students to keep their shopping experience with safety.

During the lecture, Mr. Uzain also answers the student’s queries about security threats while retail shopping. He suggested that the future of the retail industry is bright, although this time the slowdown is there due to the corona epidemic, yet there is excellent scope in forthcoming days.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Uzain Zahoor, who made the students aware of the Challenges and Strategies for the Retail Industry in the Present Scenario in India. The lecture was proved to be fruitful under the guidance of Prof. YDS Arya (Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Manish Gupta (Dean Management), Dr. Dheeraj Gandhi (HOD, BBA & B.COM), Dr. Mohnish Kumar, Mr. Tarun Gupta, Mr. Manmohan Bansal and Ms. Shweta Gopal. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Varun Sharma (CRC Manager) for organizing this guest lecture.
