Event Description

GUEST LECTURE ON “APPLICATION OF SOLAR THERMAL SYSTEM IN BUILDING” FOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING/ELECTRONICS COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING STUDENTS
Solar thermal systems are mostly used in residential and industrial applications such as domestic water heating, heating of swimming pools, space heating, water processes for
industrial heating and agricultural drying. These products are reliable and show a high technical standard for low temperature demand. Solar thermal energy has been used for thousands of years in openings and the windows of buildings as so-called passive solar energy. Different solar incident angles in summer and winter are used in the design and orientation of buildings to get maximum solar gain in winter and minimum solar gain in summer. This is achieved by a southern orientation, an overhang that gives shading in summer but lets in the sun in winter, and the thermal mass of a building that dampens the internal day/night temperature variation. So with this view, Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Communication Engineering, organizing a guest lecture on “Application of solar thermal energy in building” on 05 Feb. 2020 for the students of B.Tech. (EE), B.Tech. (ECE) and B.Tech.
(ME).The lecture was delivered by Dr Tabish Alam, Scientist, Efficiency of Building Group CSIR- Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee.
