ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
This programme has been designed to provide the students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in biochemical engineering, molecular biology, enzymology, bioinformatics, system biology, for keeping pace with the latest developments and help to cater the professional needs of industry.

Eligibility Criteria

First year B. Tech from a recognized university with 60% (55% for SC/ST category) or equivalent CGPA and 60% aggregate in 10+2

OR

Candidate must have passed 3 or 4 year Diploma in technical stream from institutions recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education or B.Sc. degree in Biology/ Microbiology/ Botony/ Zoology/ Chemistry/ Physics/ Maths/ Physiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Agriculture with minimum aggregate marks of 50% or 5.0 CGPA.

Admission Procedure

Admission based on merit of qualifying degree/diploma. Students with 80% and above marks in qualifying exam can apply directly for counselling.

Program Outcomes (PO)

PO-1

Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals to solve complex problems in biotechnology.

PO-2

Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex biotechnological problems to design solutions that meet desired needs within realistic constraints.

PO-3

Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex biotechnological problems and design experiments to validate those solutions using modern tools, techniques and softwares.

PO-4

Conduct investigations of complex problems: Develop and conduct appropriate experiments, analyze, and interpret data, and use scientific judgment to draw conclusions.

PO-5

Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering tools including computer softwares in biotechnology and related fields.

PO-6

The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO-1

To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of biotechnology, including molecular biology, genetics, and bioprocess engineering, along with engineering principles.

PEO-2

To equip students with the skills and knowledge required to design and develop biotechnological systems and processes to solve real-world problems in various fields, such as healthcare, agriculture, and environmental management.

PEO-3

To train students to analyze and interpret scientific data, critically evaluate scientific literature, and communicate scientific ideas effectively, including engineering design and development concepts.

PEO-4

To prepare students for higher education and research in biotechnology or related fields, including pursuing postgraduate studies or research careers, or higher studies in engineering.

PEO-5

To prepare students for careers in the biotechnology industry or related fields, including research and development, quality control and assurance, production, and sales and marketing, along with engineering design and development roles.

To instil in students a sense of professional ethics, responsibility, and lifelong learning in the field of biotechnology and engineering.
